INTRODUCTION TO THIS COURSE
Mathematics as a field of study allows for acquiring a universal language, which helps us in explaining the world around us. Additionally, mathematics gives the opportunity to develop abstract, critical, and logical thinking, which sets the students on the right path to achieving the skills for problem solving, pattern recognition and phenomena investigation. That is why the study of mathematics is vital in further continuing with the Middle Years Program of the IB.
At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand mathematical principles, as well as develop their abstract thinking and capabilities for making generalizations. On top of that, the student will be able to communicate effectively utilizing the mathematical language in order to explain the world that surrounds them and to apply it in other subject areas.
As part of the Middle Years Program, the student will work on further developing:
- problem-solving as part of thinking skills -
- teamwork as part of social skills -
- utilizing the mathematical language as part of communication skills -
- self awareness and self responsibility as part of self management skills -
REMEMBER TO PARTICIPATE AND ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS DURING OUR WEBINARS!
