Course Introduction:
Language and Literature course is an intellectually stimulating journey, in which we delve into the intricate tapestry of human expression, communication, and interpretation through the lens of language and literature. Aims:
To enhance students' language proficiency by exposing them to a variety of texts and styles.

To develop effective writing, speaking, and listening skills.

To explore the techniques used by authors to convey meaning, evoke emotions, and create literary effects.

To understand how different media and modes of communication shape meaning and influence audiences.


Methodology:

Text-Centered Analysis: Students engage in close reading and analysis of a variety of texts, both literary and non-literary.

Discussion and Debate: Classroom discussions encourage students to share their interpretations, perspectives, and insights.

Reflective Thinking: Students are prompted to reflect on their own responses to texts and consider how their personal experiences, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds influence their interpretations.

Collaborative Activities: Group activities, peer reviews, and collaborative projects.


Content:
The course content is organized into thematic units that encompass a variety of language skills and cultural topics. The content is designed to progressively challenge and build upon students' language proficiency.


Criteria:

Criterion A: Analysing (25%)

i. identify and comment upon significant aspects of texts

ii. identify and comment upon the creator’s choices

iii. justify opinions and ideas, using examples, explanations and terminology

iv. identify similarities and differences in features within and between texts.

Criterion B: Organizing (25%)

i. employ organizational structures that serve the context and intention

ii. organize opinions and ideas in a coherent and logical manner

iii. use referencing and formatting tools to create a presentation style suitable to the context and

intention.

Criterion C: Producing Text (25%)

i. produce texts that demonstrate thought, imagination and sensitivity, while exploring and considering

new perspectives and ideas arising from personal engagement with the creative process

ii. make stylistic choices in terms of linguistic, literary and visual devices, demonstrating awareness of

impact on an audience

iii. select relevant details and examples to develop ideas.

Criterion D: Using Language (25%)

i. use appropriate and varied vocabulary, sentence structures and forms of expression

ii. write and speak in an appropriate register and style

iii. use correct grammar, syntax and punctuation

iv. spell (alphabetic languages), write (character languages) and pronounce with accuracy

v. use appropriate non-verbal communication techniques.
